Visa Cancellations

There are various circumstances in which a person may be subject to visa cancellation in Australia. These include, but are not limited to the following:

Persons subject to cancellation may be sent correspondence from the Department of Home Affairs notifying of the intention to consider cancellation of the visa. The visa applicant will be provided a time-frame in which to respond to the notice of intention to consider cancellation. In other circumstances, visas may be cancelled without notification in which case the former visa holder may apply to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal to revoke the cancellation of the visa.

Lex Lawyers’ legal practitioner director and principal lawyer, Jonathon Trainer is a former immigration officer whose duties included responsibility for visa cancellations, both onshore and offshore as well as within immigration clearance as an airport inspector. Lex Lawyers can assist persons who are subject to visa cancellation. We can also assist persons whose visas were recently cancelled through merits review with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal where a review application is made within the legislated time-frame.
